Learn how to play Blackjack!
It's easy to ace the game of Blackjack, one of the most popular table games at the Island View Casino and around the world. Island View offers a variety of Blackjack tables six deck shoes, Double Deck and 6-5 single deck Blackjack.
Object of the Game
Your goal is to draw cards that total 21, or come closer to 21 than the dealer without going over.
How to Play
The dealer and each player get two cards. The dealer's first card faces up, the second faces down. Face cards each count as 10, Aces count as 1 or 11, all others count at face value. An Ace with any 10, Jack, Queen, or King is a "Blackjack."
If you have a Blackjack, the dealer pays you one-and-a-half times your bet - unless the dealer also has a Blackjack, in which case it's a "push" and neither wins.
If you don't have a Blackjack, you can ask the dealer to "hit" you by using a scratching motion with your fingers on the table.
You may draw as many cards as you like (one at a time), but if you go over 21, you "bust" and lose. If you do not want to "hit," you may "stand" by making a side-to-side waving motion with your hand.
After all players are satisfied with their hands, the dealer will turn his or her down card face up and stand or draw as necessary. The dealer stands on all 17s or higher, or may hit on soft 17s as stated on the table game layout.
All winning bets are paid even money (1 to 1) except for Blackjack, which pays you one-and-a-half times your bet or 3-2.
Blackjack Playing Options
To increase your chances of winning, or winning a bigger payout, consider the following options:
SPLITTING PAIRS. When you have two cards of the same denomination, you may split the pairs into two separate hands and play each hand individually. You must wager the same amount as your original bet on each split hand. If you have split Aces, you get only one hit on each Ace. You may re-split a pair up to three times (making up to four separate hands.) Exception: During Double Deck games you may only re-split Aces once.
DOUBLING DOWN. Consider this if you think you can win with only one additional card. You may wager additional money up to your original bet, and receive one more card. You may double down on any two cards. You may also "double down" after splitting a pair. No Double Down on Aces.
INSURANCE. If the dealer's "up card" is an Ace, you can take insurance. Here you're betting that the dealer has a Blackjack. You can bet only half your original bet. If the dealer does have a Blackjack, your original bet loses and the insurance is paid two to one. If the dealer doesn't have a Blackjack, he takes the insurance bet and the game continues.
6-5 SINGLE DECK BLACKJACK RULES
All Blackjacks pay 6-5 unless the Dealer has Blackjack, in which case the hand will be "pushed"
No even money on Blackjack
All bets must be made in increments of $5.00
No Double Down after splitting hands
No Mid Deck Entry
SPLITTING PAIRS. When you have two cards of the same denomination, you may split the pairs into two separate hands and play each hand individually. You may re-split a pair up to three times (making up to four separate hands.) You must wager the same amount as your original wager and may only split Aces once.
DOUBLING DOWN. CConsider this if you think you can win with only one additional card. You may wager additional money up to your original bet, and receive one more card. You may "double down" on 10-11 only. No Double Down after splitting hands.
Learn how to play Craps!
The game of craps is easier than it looks, and here's how to keep the good times rolling.
How to Play
The person whose turn it is to roll the dice is the "shooter." The results of the shooter's rolls will determine the outcome for all Players, who bet either with him or against him.
On the shooter's first roll, or "come-out," Players wager by placing chips on either the PASS line or DON'T PASS bar.
By betting on the PASS line, you're wagering that the shooter will win. If you bet on the DON'T PASS bar, you're betting the shooter will lose.
If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the first throw, PASS LINE bets win. If a 2, 3, or 12 is thrown, PASS LINE bets lose. This is called "craps."
Conversely, if the shooter throws a 2 or 3, DON'T PASS wagers win. If a 7 or 11 is thrown, DON'T PASS bets lose. If a 12 is thrown, it is a "push" and no one wins.
If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled, that number becomes the "point," and is marked on the betting layout with a puck, and the shooter must now try to "make the point" - in other words, re-roll the point number to win.
If he rolls this point again before rolling a 7, bets on the PASS LINE win, while DON'T PASS bets lose. This is called a "pass" and the shooter starts over with a brand new roll.
A roll of 7 after the point has been established completes the shooter's turn and PASS LINE bets lose, while DON'T PASS bets win.
DON'T PASS bets may be removed at any time.
Other Types of Bets You Can Make
There are many types of bets to be made in the game of craps. Here are just a few examples:
Place Bet: A bet that the shooter will roll a specific number - either a 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 - before he throws a 7. Payouts: Numbers 4 and 10 pay 9 to 5; 5 and 9 pay 7 to 5; 6 and 8 pay 7 to 6.
One Roll Bet: Bets placed on the "Any Craps" section of the layout (which covers numbers 2, 3 and 12) pay 7 to 1. Bets placed on numbers 3 or 11 pay 15 to 1; on 2 or 12 pay 30 to 1; any 7 pays 4 to 1.
All-Day HardWay: You're wagering the shooter will throw a specific number - 4, 6, 8 or 10 - the "hardway," (that is, by rolling a pair of 2's, 3's, 4's, or 5's) before he rolls any other combination that totals this number, or before he rolls a 7. Hardway 6 and 8 pay 9 to 1; 4 and 10 pay 7 to 1.
Field Bet: To bet that a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 is rolled next, place your bet on the "Field." This bet is on a single roll. If any of the above numbers is thrown - except a 2 or a 12 - you win even money. 2 and 12 pay double.
Learn how to Play Three Card Poker!
Three Card Poker is really two games in one - Three Card Ante/Play and Pair Plus. You can play either one or both games at the same time. The games are played with a standard 52 card deck. Cards are distributed to the dealer in groups of three by an automatic shuffling machine.
Play must equal Ante
Dealer plays with queen high or better
When dealer does not play - Play...Push...Ante...1 to 1
When dealer plays and player wins - Play...1 to 1...Ante...1 to 1
Three Card Poker Hand Ranking
Three of a Kind
This game starts with the players placing bets in the Ante spots in the table layouts. The ante can be any amount within posted table limits. The players and the dealer all get three cards, face down. The players all look at their hands and either fold by giving their cards back and losing their Ante bet, or play by placing a bet, equal to the Ante, in the "play" spot in the layout. The dealer then turns over his cards. If he does not have Queen High or better, he doesn't qualify to play and pays the active players even money on their Ante bets and those with a straight or better are paid the additional Ante bonus. If he does have a qualifying hand, those who cannot beat it lose their Antes and their play bets, but still win the Ante bonus with a straight or higher. Those who can beat the dealer win even money on both bets plus the Ante bonus, if any.
Pair Plus Strategy
Since the only decision the player has to make in this game is to play or not to play, there is no strategy involved. However, the very low house advantage makes it about as attractive as any table game you can find. You cannot bet five dollars and win a house here, but the payouts are very generous.
